Except he has 2 million followers and is one of the most far reaching voices on the entire Internet, regardless of whether or not I follow him. Your solution is to just stick my head in the sand and ignore parts of reality that I don’t like. This isn’t the same as “trolling,” trolling is when people are trying to get a rise out of you. This guy is actually doing stupid and potentially destructive things, regardless of whether or not I “give him attention.” You could just as easily say I should ignore crimes that aren’t against me. It’s a bad argument.tedr:
Twitter is empowering stupid American assholes to extend their sense of entitlement and superiority to international conflicts that they are barely aware of in the first place. Shut up, Kelso.twitter also enables a cool feature call un-following.
The priciple of “don’t feed the trolls” applys to anyone receiving attention you think shouldn’t be there.
Don’t pay attention to or follow celebrities you don’t like. It’s an attention economy, and by pointing out that celebrities are stupid, you’re giving them attention. Stop. Don’t be an ass about it, don’t tell everyone you’re not following them. Just ignore it.
